Pruina
PRUINA (proo-EE-nah)
Latin, "hoarfrost."
Pruina is the fine crystalline powder that forms on surfaces in cold air. In Latin, pruinose describes the waxy bloom on a ripe plum, a grape or a fig. The surface looks powdered and cold, while the warmth of the fruit waits beneath it.
The fragrance follows that same arc. Cardamom, fig and black tea open green, dry and faintly sweet, like a dusting laid over something ripe. At the heart, iris turns cool and powdery, softened by bourbon vetiver. Press through it and the base gives way to sandalwood and tonka bean, creamy and warm against the skin.
Cold on contact. Warm beneath.
