Nocturne

NOCTURNE (NOK-turn)
Latin, "of the night."

Nocturnus grew from nox, the Latin word for night, and described whatever belonged to the dark hours. It passed into French and Italian, and in the early 1800s musicians took it for a quiet, dreamy piece meant to be played at the end of the day. A nocturne was never loud. It was the hour when the world gets smaller and what remains is felt closely.

The fragrance plays that hour. Coffee and cacao open dark and bitter, roasted and velvety. Jasmine and orange blossom follow, a white glow set against the dark. Vanilla and patchouli settle underneath, warm and earthy, and they stay near the skin for hours. It does not announce itself across a room. It is something you notice when the lights are low.
